The goal of this program is to create a positive first musical experience for the child so they will want to learn to play an instrument and enjoy the process of attending music classes, practicing at home and performing. 30-minute fast-paced, fun classes includes singing, dancing, percussion instruments, ear training, pre-note reading, and rhythm training while learning to play the keyboard. Materials include play-along/sing-along CDs, stuffed animals, flashcards, in-classroom use and home use curriculum books, pencil, binder and briefcase. Your child will LOVE playing the piano in this class!

When a 3-4yr old begins their music lessons, we recommend 2 to 4 yrs of piano class lessons before adding the private lesson to the student's schedule, depending on their beginning age, maturity and interest level. Highly motivated students will be invited to join accelerated classes to invigorate their musical progress.
Tips for Success During the Class:
Attend every week, even if you didn't do your home assignment!
Be on-time and quickly help your child get their class materials ready.
Pay attention during the lesson. Please turn your phones off during class. If your child sees you texting on your smart phone, they will be distracted. Help your child focus all their energy and attention on the teacher and the classroom activities.
Keep your child still while the teacher is giving directions. Turn off their keyboard, and ask them quietly to focus on the instructor and the instruction being given.
If your child is disturbing the classroom environment, your teacher may ask you to step outside with your child until he/she is ready to cooperate. Please be sensitive to the need to have a productive class time for all the students.
Your teacher will ask you to participate during the class either on the floor, at the teacher's piano, and at your child's keyboard. Be ready to point to the notes in the book and help your child find their hand position.
How to Support Your Child Between Classes:
Reinforce class activities at home with the use of CDs: Discovery CD for car, Lesson CD next to child's keyboard.
Attend a makeup class if you missed your regular class. Â New concepts are introduced weekly. You are also welcome to attend another matching class if you and your teacher feel the extra class time would be beneficial.
Check the online home assignment to make sure don't miss class concepts that need reviewing.
Schedule 5-10 min regular practice times that match your family's routine: before/after school, before/after dinner, etc.
Listen to the Discovery Book CD in the car. Encourage them to sing and clap along while you drive. Listening and responding is the most important practicing they can do at this age!
Check the school calendar for vacation, recital and special event dates.
Communicate with your teacher via school email: Teacher@pacificconservatory.com. They (or the office staff) will respond to all questions and comments.
Email or call the office if you will be absent.
Keep track of the number of practice sessions so your child can report this to their teacher.
Attend musical events in the community. Live music of any genre is motivating and stimulating to the young child (and their parent!)
Never use practice time as punishment for other misdeeds.
Brings all your materials. Keeps books and binders in your Pacific Conservatory briefcase so it will be easy to find when it's time to leave for your lesson.
Overview of Curriculum:
Music for Little Mozarts-3-4 yrs is a 3-year program. There are 4 Levels, each taking about 30 weeks of lessons.
Students begin with pre-reading activities and will be fluent note readers by the end of the program.
Students will use Letter Names (A,B,Cs) for note reading, but will also be introduced to solfege (Do,Re,Mi) for singing activities.
Beginning performances will feature students in duets with their instructor. As they progress, they will perform solos. If a student is not ready to perform at one of our biannual recitals, please attend the recital with them in the audience so they may watch and be more comfortable for the next performing opportunity. Students will perform often for their classmates and their parents.
After @3 years of Music for Little Mozarts-3-4 yrs, your class will move into Prep Course Bk C curriculum. Students who are invited to join our Fast Track Curriculum will be ready to add a private lesson at this point. Hobbyist Track students will enjoy progressively more challenging and rewarding classes continuing through Bks C, D, E, etc. Each text book takes about 1 year to complete.
